William Banting (1796-1878)
I hope you have arrived to this web site in search of an answer to weight loss. If not, spend a few minutes and see who William Banting was and what he did for the world. William Banting is the true father of the low carb diet and my inspiration.
Although one can give credit to physicians of the day, most of the credit belongs to Banting for proving , documenting and making public the Low Carbohydrate Diet at his own expense. And following his example I am trying to do the same by making his letter available on this web site
In the 1860's William Banting found himself corpulent(obese). After paying many physicians, he tried many remedies and methods to lose weight. None helped. Until he happened on one physician who told him about the things which he should avoid eating. Banting followed the advice and lost a lot of weight.
Being very pleased with the results, he wanted to reach the public with his
simple weight loss method so he published several editions of the
Letter on Corpulence. At the time this was the latest craze in England.
Eventually it became forgotten. During the sixties Dr. Atkins heard about it
and produced a low carbohydrate diet book on the subject.
In the
Spirit of William Banting who wanted to reach the public by publishing his letter
on CORPULENCE using his own expense. I am publishing this web site. This letter
was the only motivation I needed to alter my diet and lose approximately 50lbs.
in a few short months. You need not purchase anything nor do you need to spend
thousands of dollars with the fad diet plans. You do not need to purchase diet
fad potato chips, candy bars etc. Stay away from low carb potato chips, candy
bars and other things that are just replacements for your bad eating habits.
As a matter of fact if you do not change your WOEs(Ways Of Eating ), NO diet
plan will work for you.
Basically, I don't know how to say this without "carb" coating it
too much, my point is this: If you are overweight, and continue to have junk
foods as part of your daily diet such as candy bars, potato chips, donuts, other
foods that contain a lot of sugars and carbohydrates, you will fail. When you
have lost the weight you are trying to lose, then you can begin to reintroduce
these things in your diet in a moderate amount.
Most of us who are overweight , overeat for the amount of activity that we do, we are eating way too much of the wrong foods. I am not going to create a theory and diet plan of my own. It's all been done before. So, JUST READ THE LETTER AND YOU'LL UNDERSTAND!!. I've already had several people tell me they have not been able to read the letter because it's too long. Well, the way I see it, completing the letter is the first test of your will power.
